Swami Brahmananda
(21 January 1863 - 10 April 1922)

Swami Brahmananda, affectionately known as Raja Maharaj, was the silent yet majestic heart of the Ramakrishna Order. As the first president of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, he embodied spiritual royalty—not through wealth or title, but through his deep inner connection with the Divine. A close disciple of Sri Ramakrishna, he was often referred to as the "spiritual son" of the Master. With the serenity of a monk and the leadership of a king, Swami Brahmananda guided the Order with wisdom, compassion, and an inner radiance that quietly transformed all who came into his presence.   SWAMI SHIVANANDA
(16 December 1854 - 20 February 1934)

Swami Shivananda, born Tarak Nath Ghosal in 1854, was a serene yet powerful spiritual leader whose life embodied quiet strength and deep compassion. As a direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna, he absorbed his Master’s teachings with profound devotion, living a life of simplicity and unwavering service. Swami Shivananda’s calm demeanor earned him the affectionate title "Mahapurush Maharaj" among his devotees. In 1922, he became the second president of the Ramakrishna Mission, guiding it with wisdom and humility during a period of growth and challenge.  SWAMI AKHANDANANDA
(30 SEPTEMBER 1864 - 7 FEBRUARY 1937)

Swami Akhandananda (1864–1937) was a direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna, renowned for his deep compassion and adventurous spirit. Born Gangadhar Ghatak, he was drawn to the spiritual path from an early age, leading him to the sacred feet of Sri Ramakrishna. Unlike many, Akhandananda's journey was not confined to monasteries; he wandered far and wide, from the Himalayas to the dusty plains of India, serving the poor and downtrodden wherever he went. His boundless love for humanity found expression in his tireless work for social upliftment, pioneering rural welfare and relief work. As the third president of the Ramakrishna Mission, Swami Akhandananda embodied the harmony of spiritual depth and practical compassion, blazing a trail for future generations in both spiritual and humanitarian fields.




SWAMI VIJNANANANDA
(30 OCTOBER 1868 - 25 APRIL 1938)

Swami Vijnanananda, born Hariprasanna Chattopadhyay on October 30, 1868, near Dakshineswar, was a luminary of the Ramakrishna Order and one of the cherished direct disciples of Sri Ramakrishna. Raised in an upper-class family, Hariprasanna was drawn early to spiritual pursuits, his life destined to be intertwined with the divine grace of his master. Renowned for his quiet strength and profound knowledge, Swami Vijnanananda blended the depth of scholarship with a childlike devotion. As an engineer by profession and a monk by soul, he harmonized the material and spiritual, contributing to the construction of several temples, including the iconic Ramakrishna Temple at Belur Math. SWAMI YOGANANDA
(30 MARCH 1861 - 28 MARCH 1898)

Swami Yogananda was one of the cherished disciples of Sri Ramakrishna, embodying simplicity, purity, and deep spiritual yearning. Born as Mahendranath Gupta, Yogananda was drawn to his Guru's divine presence from an early age. He was known for his gentle demeanor, unwavering devotion, and profound inner life. SWAMI TURIYANANDA
(3 JANUARY 1863 - 21 JULY 1922)

Swami Turiyananda, lovingly known as Hari Maharaj, was a towering figure among Sri Ramakrishna's direct monastic disciples—a serene embodiment of wisdom and renunciation. Born as Harinath Chattopadhyay, his life was a perfect harmony of deep spiritual practice and fearless self-discipline. SWAMI ABHEDANANDA
(2 OCTOBER 1866 - 8 SEPTEMBER 1939)

Swami Abhedananda (born Kaliprasad Chandra) was a brilliant scholar, mystic, and an ardent disciple of Sri Ramakrishna, whose life reflected a seamless blend of spirituality and intellectualism. Born on October 2, 1866, Swami Abhedananda was drawn to the simple yet profound teachings of Ramakrishna, which sparked a deep transformation within him. SWAMI ADBUTANANDA
Adbhutananda, affectionately known as Latu Maharaj, was one of the most unassuming yet extraordinary monastic disciples of Sri Ramakrishna. Born as Rakhturam in humble circumstances, he blossomed into a spiritually illumined soul under the compassionate guidance of his Guru. With no formal education, Latu Maharaj embodied the power of pure devotion and unwavering faith. His life was a testament to the transformative grace of Sri Ramakrishna, making him a beloved figure among seekers. SWAMI ADVAITANANDA
(1828 - 1909)

Advaitananda, born on August 28, 1828, emerged as a luminary among the direct disciples of Sri Ramakrishna, embodying the essence of spiritual pursuit. Hailing from Bengal, he was a seeker whose heart was ablaze with the quest for truth. SWAMI TRIGUNATITANANDA
(30 JANUARY 1865 - 10 JANUARY 1915)

Swami Trigunatitananda, born Sarada Prasanna Mitra on January 30, 1865, a radiant spirit and direct disciple of the revered Sri Ramakrishna. As a seeker of truth in a world brimming with distractions, Sarada was drawn to the mystic's teachings, embarking on a transformative journey of self-discovery and spiritual awakening. His dedication to the path of renunciation led him to embrace monastic life, where he became Trigunatitananda, a name that embodies the essence of his spiritual evolution. SWAMI SARADANANDA
(23 DECEMBER 1865 - 19 AUGUST 1927)

SWAMI PREMANANDA
(10 DECEMBER 1861 - 30 JULY 1918)

Baburam Maharaj (Swami Premananda), born on December 10, 1861, in the vibrant heart of Bengal, was a radiant soul who walked the path of devotion with grace and fervor. A direct disciple of the revered Sri Ramakrishna, he emerged as a luminary of spirituality in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. With a name that reflects his essence—"Niranjan," meaning "the one who is pure"—he embodied the profound teachings of Sri Ramakrishna through his life and service.
